Atkinson Industries is located in Pittsburg, KS and was founded in 1919. Atkinson started in the motor repair business serving the mining industry. As their customers requested a broader range of electrical equipment, Atkinson expanded into these new areas. With this electrical system coordination ability, Atkinson expanded the product line again in the 1970's to provide factory fabricated modular enclosures for a wide range of industries, such as the utility, power generation, mining, pharmaceutical and various other industrial companies. Atkinson became a part of AZZ incorporated in 1993.
Electrical Power Systems, Inc. (EPSI) located in Tulsa, Oklahoma, was founded as Nelson Electric in 1937 to provide specialty electrical equipment to the petroleum, petrochemical, utility, pipeline, chemical and other industrial markets. The company pioneered the concept of a factory fabricated modular electrical power distribution enclosure that was a completely assembled and tested control unit. In 1985, a group of company executives purchased this division and formed Electrical Power Systems, Inc. In November 2001, EPSI was purchased by AZZ incorporated.
Under AZZ incorporated, these two leaders in the power distribution equipment market are brought together as Atkinson-EPSI. This combining of resources enhances the Atkinson-EPSI capabilities in serving the electrical distribution and control requirements in the utility and industrial markets. |
